Reading currently competes with the library sidebar, inspector and permanent search bar. Give ready article and book presentations a dedicated, quiet reading surface with comfortable serif typography, adjustable size and page colors, on-demand search and chapter navigation. Articles scroll continuously; books paginate with each section starting on a fresh page. Library navigation and the persistent music session remain available.
Appearance preferences persist across tabs. Reading positions continue through the existing shared Rust coordinator. Fix book locator measurement across page transforms so typography and size changes retain the same passage, and checkpoint explicit article chapter jumps immediately.
Validation: 553 web tests, TypeScript checking and the production Vite/service-worker build pass. Browser checks cover desktop and 390/320-pixel widths, page controls, chapter navigation, font reflow, themes and appearance panels. Before/after screenshots inspected. This changes semantic-text presentation; it does not add full original EPUB styling or embedded image rendering.
