Opening a book or article now keeps audio/video playing. Reading and playback have independent Rust generations and saved positions, and both appear in the global surface while browsing. A readable book can remain current with no audio. Closing either session leaves the other intact. Each tab keeps its own visible session while sharing playback commands and owner handoff.

Audio controls follow the playing item’s canonical kind: music has play/pause and seeking; spoken audio also offers timed skips and speed. Add a shared artwork fallback and an accessible AirPlay icon. Reader menus show only available modes. Keep immutable reader documents stable across cross-tab playback ticks.

Validation: 544 web tests, 147 shared-core tests, TypeScript, WASM and production builds. In Safari, actual WASM/SQLite sessions and native audio continued playing through EPUB page turns, library navigation and restoration to page two. Browser fixtures were removed before the release build. iPhone background playback and receiver-side AirPlay still require device testing.
